Who are we? The Elder Friendly Community is a network of organizations who work collaboratively to enhance the community's capacity to respond to seniors.

Collaborative Success Stories:
The establishment of an Adult Day Program for frail seniors in an active seniors’ neighbourhood Centre, the James Bay New Horizons.
The training of volunteer peer fitness leaders who will provide exercise programs for seniors in Supportive Living and Housing communities.
The expansion of volunteer Senior Peer Counsellors into the Saanich Volunteer Service.
Shared skills training programs for local volunteer agencies.
Background: Led by Seniors Serving Seniors in 2002, a group of representatives from the following organizations voluntarily came together to form the Elder Friendly Community:
Seniors Serving Seniors;
Silver Threads Service;
Vancouver Island Health Authority;
Veterans Affairs Canada;
Victoria Gerontology Association;
Exec U Net Consulting Group; and
Saanich Volunteer Services.
What is the purpose of the Network ?
Monthly breakfast meetings to share information and to network.
Form special interest groups to tighten collaboration and promote action on a service need.
Breakfasts are held on the last Thursday of every month.
